All the comments,
Just show that the people on this forum are passionate about, Law and Order, and they care about what happens to people, during interactions with the Law.
Kind of my take on it.
I see a few comments that are kind of like the tap on the chest, but to be expected.
Some of mine probably fall into that category. My apologies if so.
I see most leaning toward support of the Old Gentleman, my thoughts also.
I do have compassion for the Officer also, He needs some help, Law Enforcement is a tough job.
He also deserves a pretty stiff punishment, and he probably should have never been hired for the job.

Most people who have the tendencies to overreact will easily show those tendencies, with not much investigation during psychological tests and interviews.
Even when people are deceptive and try to hide there tendencies and pretty slick at it, a seasoned board of peers should be able to see it during an interview process.

Every time the PD lets one slip on by during the interview process, they make the Job of Enforcing the Law a lot tougher.

You always here that Cops need more training, certainly they do,
I would say that the HR department of the PD needs more training and be held responsible for their hiring practice also. They should receive some type of punishment also. It is a Team effort. When mistakes are made the whole team should receive some degree of reprimands. It promotes accountability for actions.
When every one knows the consequences and know they will get punished for an action teams will perform at a higher level with fewer mistakes.

Bad situation, Hope this is an Eye Opener for the PD, John Q Public is loosing respect for the Law.
That is Bad for Every one.
Yep. OKC may have let this one slip thru the cracks. As fewer people apply and face the constant scrutiny while dealing with human scum there will be fewer applicants. The good news is several OSA members are highly qualified and might be applying soon. 😂

Never trust a Persian cat. And guys, remember: Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs might as well relax to it! Abbreviated as either "Women and Cats!" Or just "Women!"
He said he gets her confused with his rug. Tried to make a joke about the saying, lie like a Persian rug. Might have been a stretch.

Well what do y’all think on this one? The view near the end of clip, from a nearby camera, is pretty brutal. Old Asian guys head hit the pavement hard.

Language barrier is obviously an issue. Old guy was being uncooperative too. But the cop took him down awful hard.

Back in the early 2000’s with my 7 years on the Force, the general universal rule, is you simply do not lay hands on a police officer, no matter the intent. I’m not one to Monday morning quarterback a LEO, because it’s at the officers discretion on how he handles his actions. People from other countries need to read and understand American Laws even at the state level. Maybe where these Asian folks are from it’s ok to put hands on a Policeman.

No it is not the officers discretion and thats a good thing. There are laws and rules for how law enforcement operates.

The issue isn't whether the officer has the discretion to detain and arrest the man. The issue is whether he has the discretion to use excessive force to detain/arrest, that is out of proportion to the threat being posed in the moment. He doesn't.

The force used by this officer on a slight, elderly man is wildly out of proportion to simply being touched by said man. What the officer used was force that could reasonably be expected to (and did) cause great bodily harm. Have you seen the photos of the man in the ICU bed? It's BAD. :(

My grandfather was a very touchy person. He would tap people on the chest with the back of his hand. Pat or squeeze them on the shoulder and affectionately pinch women on the elbow. He did this well into his eighties. He was a gentle god god-fearing man and WW2 veteran. He fought in Europe and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Pearl Harbor survivor. To imagine him being taken down like this for an emphatic tap on the chest boils by blood.

I know some people are touchy-feely and it's just their nature, but I knew a salesman that clapped a stranger on the shoulder as a greeting and the guy had something already seriously wrong with his shoulder at it did not go over well at all. Needless to say he didn't make a sale.
