He was reacting to his training, period. Anyone who thinks different has NO clue about law enforcement. Don't touch a cop, period. Dude needs to pay his fine and go away.
So you're saying his training taught him to use excessive force, regardless of the level of force needed to obtain compliance? Where is that found?

Please, tell us what "clue" we should have when using deadly force during a non-threatening traffic encounter becomes acceptable. I'm truly curious.
As a retired police officer, I can tell you that during any situation, you automatically click into a different mode. The old guy, younger than me, lost his cool and that clicks the officer into a defensive mode. Once the combative subject touched the officer, game on. The body slam was text book. The result was exaggerated by the subject's size (age had nothing to do with it). Could the officers "eased" the force of his trained move? Maybe, maybe not. The bottom line is again, unless you've been in his shoes, keep quiet.

That's what I keep saying about these copper thieves around here. "unless you've been in his shoes, keep quiet" .

Because we can't possibly have the ability to judge a situation without actually being there? I mean, I think Ted Bundy was a jerk for killing that 12 year old girl in Florida, but I haven't been in his shoes, so maybe it was ok?

I think I get it now. Police officers are nothing more than Maslow's Hammer.

"It is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail."

That's why we have police officers killing law abiding citizens in their own homes over $200 weed eaters. After all, if they didn't want to die, they shouldn't live in homes! :disappoin

Yeah, that's not how America works. Did you grow up in Cuba or North Korea? SMH...

I won't disagree even a little bit that it was hard to watch but the old guy did himself no favors , didn't shut up and didn't help de escalate . Its not a defense of the cop but everyone plays a role in the situation . I saw nothing but comments absolving the old dude of all of his stupidity without any consideration for the realities of what happened.

Thankfully we do not have a woke AG or legal system in the state . I would also hope that at least a few of the folks who have been watching this story transpire might learn why immigrants need to assimilate . I assure you the cops in Vietnam would not have been more gentle with the old fella .

I said he had no business popping the cop's chest armor, or telling him to shut up. No call for that. Also said what the cop SHOULD have done was spin him around, cuff, and stuff him in the back of the car.

Pretty selective remembering there. Or not the best reading comprehension I've seen evidence of in this thread. And not claiming I'm perfect, either, since I've missed a few things myself.
