Yeah, that's not how America works. Did you grow up in Cuba or North Korea? SMH...
USof A, last I checked. None of this Gestapo crap issupposed to be happening here. And quite frankly, it irrigates me. Did not spend 24 years trying to defend us from other people trying to do this kind of crap to us to come home and find it happening more and more frequently here. Being done by our own people, no less. That cop needs to be suddenly unemployed.

As a retired police officer, I can tell you that during any situation, you automatically click into a different mode. The old guy, younger than me, lost his cool and that clicks the officer into a defensive mode. Once the combative subject touched the officer, game on. The body slam was text book. The result was exaggerated by the subject's size (age had nothing to do with it). Could the officers "eased" the force of his trained move? Maybe, maybe not. The bottom line is again, unless you've been in his shoes, keep quiet.
By that logic slamming anyone of any size or age face first into the pavement is justified by a tap on the chest. Correct?

I said he had no business popping the cop's chest armor, or telling him to shut up. No call for that. Also said what the cop SHOULD have done was spin him around, cuff, and stuff him in the back of the car.

Pretty selective remembering there. Or not the best reading comprehension I've seen evidence of in this thread. And not claiming I'm perfect, either, since I've missed a few things myself.
Said the guy who thought Oklahoma had recall elections

Guy was very vocally combative.. He elevated it, then elevated it more by physical contact.

sorry but this is exactly why my parents taught me to respect the badge and argue in court.

Having watched thousands of videos probably of police interactions I believe 99 percent of officers would handle it differently. Meaning they would make the arrest without causing severe injury. They do it all day everyday in worse situations. That would be worthy of respect. This officers actions are not worthy of respect.

FIFY.

IMO - Respect does not automatically come with that badge, but what that person does with that badge that can earn respect.

Agreed but to start off confrontational is just asking for trouble.

This is what's wrong with this situation. The guy didn't like getting issued a ticket so he threw a tantrum.

Oddly enough that is also the key point 99% of the people here conveniently keep managing to ignore or overlook. The old man sugared on his own misery on many levels , knowing when to remain silent and polite is a skill everyone should master.

My guess is many of the people here being so vociferous about boot licking etc, would keep their mouth shut in an encounter like this had they been involved .

Agree, mostly. But none of that deserves a potential death sentence.
I have stated that I thought he went overboard but he followed his training and took control of the situation.

I think those that have never served in this capacity see things different than those that put their life on the line everyday. Being a potential target for violence daily does make a person a bit high strung.
