You’re still talking out of both sides of your mouth. The cop did nothing wrong, but will be fired for what he did.

Why not let a grand jury decide if prosecuting the cop is the right thing to do?

As far as the DA being woke: based on her prior actions, she apparently has no problem dismissing charges against cops because she’s done it multiple times already.
Face it you were wrong, Oklahoma Statute clearly states you can't touch a cop in these instances. The old man did that , someone else who clearly has some experience here commented as such the officer reacted withing the "confines of the law"

It doesn't mean that the officer didn't exercise poor judgement in how much force to use but it also means he shouldn't be prosecuted . I am ok with him being fired but not prosecuted , the AG made the right judgement call.

The DA is a democrat and an activist plain and simple.

Where did anyone say, myself included, that it was ok for Vu to touch the cop? I’ll help you: No one said that.

Man, I just love this thread. It's like the gift that keeps giving as long as the gift you're looking for is proof that members on OSA can have a good light hearted debate and change their minds when presented with new information, differing opinions, or worldviews. Like, without a doubt there's sure no stubborn people here. Nope, nothing but the finest legal scholars and persons filled with empathy, and folks that can correctly answer the WWJD questions that beset us as a society.

Who deserves more respect?

A frail senior citizen suffering from bone cancer and language impediments who feels he is being treated unjustly? He probably perceived that his life was nearly over, lost his patience for being wrongly accused and decided to stand up for himself. It seems unlikely he will get out of his bed and learn anything as some here are saying....his days are few.

A police officer who cannot wait 5 minutes for a translator before issuing a ticket when dealing with a vulnerable, frail man who is not understanding him? Had he respected Mr. Vu, the peace would have been kept.....but no, he grew tired of messing with the old man whom he perceived was disrespecting him.

"The quality of mercy is not strain'd.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest:
It blesseth him that gives, and him that takes.
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown.
His scepter shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptered sway;
It is enthroned in the heart of kings;
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice."

Quit wandering about like a babe in the woods pondering the reason he got taken down then .. You know why was taken down and that it was legal.
Again, no one is pondering the why. As for the legality of the cop’s actions, that’s up for debate. The DA’s office, the police department, and a lot of citizens don’t think so. The AG, the police union, and a lot of citizens do think so. Instead of letting a grand jury and possibly a jury decide, the AG flexed on everyone and took the case. Can he do that? Yes, no one is saying otherwise. Should he have? That’s a big part of the debate. You and I disagree about that. What I think you’re getting confused about or are inferring is that I think the cop’s response should go to prison. Honestly, I don’t know.

Had the AG let things play out I think a grand jury would’ve no-billed the cop. Instead, we got an AG pandering to law enforcement in an effort to gain higher office. Don’t kid yourself, Drummond doesn’t give two ***** about that cop.
