GF is coming in soon for a long weekend.

I'm picking her up at the airport in OKC on a Friday, we are going to spend Friday night in OKC and Saturday in OKC. Looking for a suggestion for a restaurant. I'm looking to stay around the Penn Square Mall area Friday night and then take her to the OKC Memorial Saturday.

I was thinking Italian food since she likes Italian.

Are there any good casual Italian places near Penn Square Mall?

And regarding Penn Square, do they have the no gun signs? It's been a couple years since I've been there.

Suggest breaking free of the immediate Penn Square area and checking out either the area just to the North by Chesapeake/ Classen Curve or down to Midtown. Stella is a nice italian place, with Kaisers a short walk away for dessert. On the last Friday of each month, Elemental Coffee roasters hosts the H&8th food event- Food trucks line Hudson St. at 8th. Kind of a funky, eat on the sidewalk and meet people sort of venue.

Check the OKC Gazette online and the Daily Oklahoman for stuff going on. There's ways to have a blast in OKC and completely avoid the chain resteraunt/ strip mall norm (Not that the norm is bad, but hopefully this won't be a normal weekend for you). Bringing your GF to town is the time to go places you haven't and do things you've never done. Have fun!

I've never seen a No Gun sign at Penn Sq. mall.

That's some good rundown for me! Thanks.

I'm not really into the chain restaurant thing, either. I figure I can eat at those anytime, anywhere so I wanted to take her to something unique.

Hmmm, Italian around Penn Square. Of course there's the Olive Garden on the South Side of Penn Square.

There's Flip's just to the East of Penn Square on Western.

Not Italian, but a nice restaurant I highly recommend, just to the West of Penn Square..Junior's

Not Italian, on the North side of Penn Square parking lot....Cheese Cake Factory.

Pearl's(seafood) and Upper Crust Pizza,RePUBlic...on the Classen Curve over by the new Whole Foods.

Just a little South East of Penn Square, a good place to eat...The Wedge Pizza.

Of course...Deep Fork Grill.

All I can think of right now by Penn Square.

Reason why I want to stay close to the Penn Square area is because her flight is coming in late and I don't want to cut it too close and get to a restaurant close to closing time and pissing off staff.

It is a few miles away, but Mama Rosa's up by lake hefner is great. But, it is mexican food

As someone said, Cheesecake factory is right at Penn Square and Bellini's at the Waterford is about 1/2 mile up Penn.

There is an Italian place in Penn Square, but I've only eaten there once and don't remember the name. Not bad food.

No gun signs that I can think of. At least none that I've ever seen or that have stopped me.

If you guys like steak, Cattleman's off of Agnew. Coming from the airport, you have to pass 240 before getting to Penn Square. It is off of 240 and Agnew.
