I know the owner of Papa Dios/Wine Bar. It's on N May ave just a little south of 122nd st. The whole place is small and quaint with half the restaurant really casual and the Wine Bar half is a little more upscale, no screaming kids. Same food served on both sides. A little more expensive than Olive Garden Italian food but not bad. Food is really good. Only about 4 miles from Penn Square.

My wife loves Italian food so we have tried all of the ones listed.
Bellini's is great. Less than a mile north near 63rd and Penn http://www.bellinis.net/
Papa Dio's stated above is a good suggestion but a bit further than some of the others. http://www.papadiosokc.com/
Sophabella's is closer that Papa Dio's About 7500 N May. I've always enjoyed it. http://www.sophabellasrestaurant.com/
Stella is worth the drive. Just north of 10th and Walker (about 6 miles from Penn Square) http://www.stellaokc.com/
Nomad is about 7200 N May and is hit or miss (fried pepperoni is always good)
Caffe Pranzo. Only been there once but it was good. North of Britton and May
I love the Wedge, Great Pizza, but I think you want something a bit more special 4800 blk N Western http://thewedgeokc.com/
If you are open to a road trip, Benvanuti's would be my top choice. http://benvenutisristorante.com/ Main @ the railroad tracks. 30 minutes away. Get reservations.

Monogamy steak house is good but requires reservations it's about a half mile west of penn square

Do they have a Mahogony near Penn? I've only been to the one west of Quail Springs.

If she's coming in late, why not hit someplace in Bricktown? Closer to the airport than Penn Square....and a lot of restaurant options. Lot of joints on Meridian just north of the airport too.

Only time I've been in Bricktown is for a ballgame. We are not into the night life type of thing if that's what Bricktown is about.

We just want to have a quiet dinner at a restaurant that isn't a chain restaurant.

You could check out the Mantel in Bricktown, it would fit the bill. For Italian, Nonna's there is good. These are legit restaurants, and not really clubbin' type places.
