Yeeeeeaaaahhh!! :clap3::laugh6::thumbup3: Kansas City and Memphis are some great BBQ places also...

I like my own best, been smokin' meats since the 70's. I had a smoker on a trailer. My step dad had a welder make from scratch.

Kansas City and Memphis didn't make the cut. I've tried a handful of Memphis bbq joints, wasn't impressed. Kansas City is just Memphis sweet sauce on Texas smoke, wasn't for me.

It wasn't a poll, it was all based on food reviews. New Orleans has the highest review average, OKC very narrowly at #2.

It's not that Texas doesn't have good BBQ, what killed them was the abundance of bad BBQ

Well I have to disagree with ya, I've had some great BBQ in both of those cities and in TX...

Don't get me wrong, I've had great BBQ in Texas too. Franklin BBQ in Austin was amazing. Underwood in Brownwood was amazing. Jake's in Corpus was amazing. Tried Lockhart's, but must have been an off day. I've had far more bad bbq anywhere in my life than I've had great bbq.

Best BBQ restaurant I have ever been to ... Memphis BBQ, Horn Lake, MS.

Lot of bad ones ... that kettle cook their meat. Too Yankee for my taste.
What is kettle cooking? Boiling it first like some do ribs? :puke::puke:

Wife and I have pretty much been out of the BBQ restaurants for several years but are getting back into it.
We did the BBQ circuit for several years, pretty much eating it almost every day trying new recipes and finally got burned out on it.
Can't believe the prices of brisket now! Insane!
I did start a thread on OSA recently on the best BBQ in the Broken Arrow area.
Smokies came back as the best of the best and Trip Advisor does rate them #1.
We have ate there twice this month and really enjoyed the food. Fork tender brisket, and just the right amount of smoke. No bbq sauce for me on smoked meats.

We ate Bad Brads in Yukon once... It wasn't nearly as good as the Pawhuska joint.

Swadley's was good, nobody told me how hot the hot sauce was.

Leos was dang good too.

Truth be told, it's hard to find good BBQ that can stack with the BBQ I grew up with. Even as good as Franklin and Underwood BBQ was, it'll never be Dougan's. I still kick my own *** on a weekly basis for not buying that place and letting Paul teach me how to cook his BBQ... but I was young and couldn't wait to leave the nest.
