We pay the people in washington dc a lot more than what the oklahoma legislators get. At least the ok legislators are actually working to get stuff done unlike the pricks in DC.
After 20 years without a raise and they want 35%, Big deal. I bet no one here would turn down a 35% increase in their pay if they could get it.
They pay basketball and football players MILLIONS of dollars a year to play a game...Really?

Why, you actually think they only work 3 months a year? Really?
No, I know that they work after hours as well. Just like the majority of people in the state. And I also get why they dis this, just think it should have been phased in over the next few sessions. Especially when there are so many other priorities that need funding more. They should be the last ones to receive any raises. Just like our congresscritters in DC.

Dont give any credit where it's due. These legislators do one hell of a lot and I bet those complaning here dont know the first thing about it.
And the one you vote in next gets the pay raise too.

Credit where it’s due?

Would you walk into there for a living? I did for it twenty eight years. Because of it I now have heart problems, lung problems, back problems, and who knows what else. When we signed up for this job, we were promised a retirement that at the time we were told would increase as the cost of living increased. I had about ten years on the job when the legislature says, “change of plans guys, no more cost of living increases, you get what we decide to give you”.

As said earlier, I retired in 2007 with a monthly retirement check that equals about half of what I was paid before I retired. No pay raises since. Cost of living has gone up, but our retirement pay has not. We thought we would get a little bit to help our needs, but the legislature shut it down and gave themselves a raise. Am I bitter about it. YES!

If our “representatives” can’t take care of us, why should we take care of them? Their jobs depend on our votes and they frequently forget that.

I got 20% last year and that brought me up to the same level I was at 10 years ago when inflation was 20%-30% lower. The reason, we had a turnover rate of 27% at ODOT. Consultants were paying much more for those that we trained for a year maybe or less. You cant function like that and expect to get and keep the best people.

True, think that what I was trying to say came off the wrong way.
However, there are many other priorities that need to be fixed by the state before the legislature gets a raise.

No I would not!
Thank you for serving in the CITY socialist program I pay for. That has nothing to do with the legislators.
Now, I'm sorry your suffering health issues but dont give me a pity party, you chose your path, no one else. Own it.

35%? Just wow, unbelievable. It would be nice if my SS went up 3.5%.

I wouldn't stop at 3.5%. I demand the full 35%! I'm on a government payroll too! (Social Security) I want an equal pay raise percentage for doing next to nothing just like those legislators on the government payroll! (I actually earned and contributed toward my government pay. Maybe the 35% is too small...)

So many closet socialists on OSA...

Right?! I won’t knock anyone for negotiating a raise. I don’t really care whether their employer is the government or not.

So our legislators may lining their pockets through their positions but their salary ain’t what’s doing it. Actually offering a livable salary for legislators allows more “Everyman” people to serve. If there’s little to no pay, then who can afford to be a full time public servant?

So many tired of watching them sleep or watch porn during sessions and then get a 35% raise for doing a piss poor job. Yes I have gone and watched sessions.

OK is one of the highest taxed stats per capita and with the least amount of progress for our dollar. Sorry but they may deserve getting back what they lost and then the same percentage as they vote for teachers, etc. Nothing more.
