Oklahoma Wind - Billy Joe Shaver

Last Trip to Tulsa - Neil Young

Home Sweet Oklahoma - Leon Russel

Dear Okie

Nowhere Road - Steve Earle

If You're Ever in Oklahoma - JJ Cale

Billy Austin - Steve Earle

If we get in to western swing and dust bowl folk and Tulsa Sound guys, we're gonna be here a while.

I recently discovered Choctaw Bingo by Jason McMurty. It mentions a lot different towns in OK, not to mention buying a SKS with 7.62x39 ammo!

This is the penultimate Oklahoma song. McMurty is one of few working songwriters who can right about rural life in modern America and be accurate. I've seen him live twice and met him once. He's a real nice dude.

I can't believe everyone missed this one! :urwelcome:

It helped that Hank Snow was also an auctioneer!

Yes Hank had the edge with the voice. Jack T posted the Johnny Cash version this morning.............Hank's voice is smooth!

"Everlasting Hills of Oklahoma" - I think Hank Thompson and/or The Sons of the Pioneers

Back in 1972 I was on the wheat harvest somewhere around Sidney, Nebraska or Sterling, Colorado and bought an 8 track tape of "Hank Thompson Salutes Oklahoma. Had several Oklahoma songs I'd never heard - "Oklahoma Home Brew", "In Guthrie", and a song about all the letters in OKLAHOMA - "O is for the oil in the Oklahoma soil, K for the Kiamichi, etc".
