My mom was going through some stuff and ran across this old knife. It's ugly, rough and nothing fancy at all, but thing is, my great grandfather made it during the Great Depression. I'm not sure what the blade is made of, but the handle is a length of copper tubing that is flattened into an oval and filled with what I believe is some mixture of zinc. I've made knives off and on for about 14 years now but never knew that it ran in my blood.
I've got my grandpa's old Boy Scout knife from somewhere around 1917 - 1919, and I'm glad to have this one that his father made with his own hands at a time when life was so tough.
