Old mossberg 500. Is this a factory finish?

Just curious if anybody knows. This is a Mossberg 500 I bought off armslist several years ago. The receiver seems to be bare aluminum? Did Mossberg sell them like this or is something someone stripped/sealed?

I've never seen one like that. Only black, dipped or the marine grade finish

Sounds like a “custom” finish then? That’s kind of what I figured. I couldn’t recall mossberg doing a 500 like this, although I’ve seen the marine 590 that looks similar.

Well, either way it’s a nice looking gun. I like it. Good cheap 12ga
