Eagles Nest. Went there with my newlywed the night after our wedding. There was an ice storm that day and there were only three couples in the restaurant. We got our appetizers for free.

Molly Murphy's was a blast.

They were until you went to pay the bill.

We had a group of 6 couples that were staying across the street go there for dinner.

The first couple that left contested their bill, and won the discussion. It was about drinks. The awesome long Island Tea in a quart jar. I guess they figured after a couple, you wouldn't notice the bill.

Being a cheap ******* like the first couple, we saw several drinks on ours when looking at the bill. Asked to see the manager, and sat there for almost a half hour with no manager.

Being the hot head that I am, went looking for the manager and found him hiding behind a wall. After a dressing down, we got our bill corrected.

Kind of a classic moment among the crowd I run with. If anybody doubts it, I'll pass along a few phone numbers. They still talk about it.

Cocino De Mino is still around. 'Mino is short for Geronimo, who would have been my great uncle. It is no longer owned by my cousin who started it, although he did go on to open Adobe Grill in Moore and by Chesepeake for anyone who remembers it. A&W and Emilio's on 89th were owned by another great uncle of mine, and Flojo's and Las Chalupas on 23rd and Western were owned by my grandmother.

La Roca III, somewhere on N. May, North of the NW Highway... I grew up in Stillwater, but that was my favorite restaurant as a kid. I would get taken there most times I went to visit my grandparents in the City, and had several birthdays there. This would be in the early to mid 90s. Being from Stillwater, complimentary queso and flour tortillas was a new concept to me! When I moved to the City a few years ago, I found out that pretty much every Mexican joint in town does that.

I also remember going to the rotating restaurant at the top of the Founder's Tower -- was that the Eagle's Nest? I remember it being a very fancy place.

WAY back in the day, my Mom and my Uncle both worked at the Across the Street Restaurant when they were in High School. This would be somewhere in the mid 60s. Anybody remember that place?
