Only If you went to ECHS in Tulsa, Wierd Ward

I realize this is an odd post, but if any of OSA'ers out here went to East Central High School in Tulsa and had Weird Ward for a chemistry teacher, which thousands of students did, you will understand why this post is here.

Wierd Ward has passed away.

For people who did not know him, they might take it as a whoop-ta-do. If you knew him, you know differently, he and his words of wisdom most likely are imbedded inside your soul like thousands of his other students, and like me 48 years later.

For those who might be offended, I did not post here when my Mom passed away, she was a nice lady and had lots of friends. Weird Ward was different, he was an icon and a significant person for anyone who ever met him and was fortunate to be his student.

One student commented that he was a member of the Oklahoma Territory Gun Club and owned over 15 firearms. I saw 26 of them 20years ago, nice collection. Ken W D 1965

I read that obit yesterday and recalled some of my former teachers that were equally inspirational. Mr. Ward's teaching skills are likely even more rare today. It's too bad he is gone but I'm glad former students are memorializing him exactly as he wished.

My condolences. I took Chemistry in California, but attended EC for 3 years. My daughter also is a graduate of EC. Will let her know as well.

I went to Tulsa East Central. The only teacher I remember was Mr. Sparks, math teacher. We called him Sparky.
