You're correct. Looking at Canik TTI Combat, Platypus, Prodigy. All under 1k. Grip size needs to fit and these work for me. Thanks

Would not buy a Prodigy unless you want to send it somewhere to fix it from the factory. Prodigy isn't under 1K though. Can't go wrong with a Canik, excellent guns for the money. Don't have any experience with a Platypus.

Back in the day when I was competing, my choice was the H&K P-30 (Bud's is showing them at $749) and I put over 125k rounds through two of them. One is now in Colorado with a nephew and the other is with another nephew in Texas and both are being shot regularly, but no longer in competition.

I would look at the Tanfoglio pistols, a lot to choose from, I have a Stock 2 Extreme, very nice, kinda pimpy looking, but so am I. I don't have (yet) a Sig P210, I have shot one, and decided then I will own one. I've got an old CZ Champion, beautiful in every way, but scarce. I personally like the Tanfogs over the CZ's but you won't go wrong either way

That’s what my pistol is. Made in Italy they are some of the best entry level out there

My wife was thinking about entering competitively. Bought her the CZ Shadow 2. She loved it. At the same time, I bought myself an Sig P320 X5 Legion. Regretted that purchase, ESPECIALLY after shooting the CZ. She was shooting so well that I upgraded her Shadow 2 to a TSO. Oh my... And I got the Shadow 2 as a hand-me-down. ;-)

I love the CZ 75's.

The standard models are pretty good right out of the box. You can upgrade a little to SP-01 or the Shadow models and still be around a thousand. You can get them customized by Cajun Gun Works or CZ Custom and have super smooth trigger with shortened reset... and still be around a thousand. However much you want to do, or not do for anywhere between about $600 to $1700. But caution, as they tried to tell me... "Don't get a CZ. You'll just want more CZ's."
I get the CZ craze. I owned the CZ 75B PCR and the Shadow 2. Unfortunately had to sell both of them. Great shooters and well made.

Here is my confession. I owned the CZ Shadow 2 for competition. Sold it a couple years ago. I regret that.
The endless equipment search. Been there and done that. Buy a Glock 34 or any of the other well known brands. Shoot it until you "might" feel like the gun is holding you back and you convince yourself you "need" a more expensive pistol. Personally, I got tired of cleaning $100 mags every time I dropped them during USPSA matches. Single Stack 1911's are also available for reasonable prices in 9mm. One of my favorites that I shot the best was an STI Trojan. Some of us, me included, like to buy nice pistols we hardly ever shoot. Save the money for ammo and don't worry so much about the equipment. You can always sell it later here and move up to that $3000 pistol you convince yourself you need. As my dad used to say when I got caught up in the golf equipment race, Jack Nicklaus can still beat you with a $99 set of kmart clubs.
