Looking to get a new bolt gun for varmint and a long range trainer for my son(10). We already shoot .22lr out to 100m and wanted to go out a bit farther. My gun range goes out to 600m and figured a 223/5.56 would be a good option.

So far I have looked at;
Ruger American Ranch Gen 1 - Have been hard to find. Not sure if they have been d/c’s
Bergara B14 Stoke - Worried about LOP for me since I am 6’3”
Bergara B14 SP - No detachable mag

Not looking for a rifle in a chassis not sure what options are out there. I already have some target/hunting rifles in 6.5cm and .308. Also not wanting to add anymore calibers to the ammo I already buy/have in stock. Should I give up on having a detachable mag? Also trying to keep it under $1000. Thanks for the help :)

Curious, is there a reason you’re not interested in a Remington 700? I’m in the process of having custom work done to one and am looking forward to seeing the results once it’s done.
I don’t think there is a Remington with the feature set that I want(threaded barrel/external mag). Also I would Rather have a Bergara over a Remington in general.
