Just spent a week down at the ranch building a new dam......check out these pics of my trackhoe stuck in the dam....I had been driving the bulldozer on top of the dam all day building it up and I though the trackhoe would have no problem but.....oh well, Finally got it out under its own power.....live and learn...!!!

G'afternoon everyone.

Wee bit of difference in psi on the tracks (dozers aren't great packers).Glad you were able to get it out. :thumb:

When I was a kid, Dad had a stock tank cleaned out and the dam built up during a hot, dry summer. The bottom of the tank looked dry and felt solid underfoot, the mud was all cracked and curling up in thick slabs.

The dozer operator started out cautiously by slicing into the edge of the tank bottom near the bank. But after a few slices, he decided it was dry throughout, and backed across the center.

Boy, was he wrong. That thing sunk like a rock to near top of the tracks. :D

Good morning to all! Looks like a beautiful day, maybe a little rain later, but looking good now. I’m wishing I was headed to Tulsa today. For something like 20 years, a group of friends from the Muskogee area have had a full island on the upper level at “The Show”. I’m not going to be able to join them this year, but I will be checking in with them several times over the weekend. Good times with good friends!

Here, but occasionally There.
Similar to OkieJoe's comment, but we will get some meat from our new source tomorrow. We've ordered a half beef and full hog, but it will be at least May possibly before the half beef is ready, so we want to pick up some more meat tomorrow to hold us till the beef is ready.

By the way, our meat source also sells meat out of freezers there in a store on their farm, so if one needs meat but not a whole lot, it can be bought, but it could be first come first served. They talk of giving a pound of hamburger to anyone going out there for the first time. We went some time back, but they were out of hamburger, so when we went back to get some hamburger, they gave us our free pound at that time.

If anyone is interested: Dunagan Farms - Guthrie Area

Looks really wet. Dozer low pressure tracks, and excavator high pressure?
Easy enough to get out though, and it appears you knew how.
How big is the pond going to be and how deep are you wanting it?

the pond (which is around 10 years old) will be about 350 yards long and around 80 to 90 feet wide...it is a small canyon and will be around 10 to 25 feet in depth.....it gets runoff from an open area of about 10 ac.....I'm building up the dam as I plan on putting in a irrigation well that will flow into a small pond and then run into this larger pond.....I'll only need to use the well when we don't get rain for an extended period of time....the pond usually stays around 1/2 full but can go much lower in July and August when the rains slow up.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in mind. Jealous of your equipment to do that.
