Good evening, hopefully everyone had a good day. Mine was pretty rough. I almost lost a battle with a septic tank lid. Thought for sure that I had a full septic tank that needed to be pumped out. I’ve removed numerous lids over the years, but I have never had one stuck like the one today. I broke 2 4x4’s trying to pull it off, and I had my tractor up on two wheels for about an hour. That dang lid never budged. During the 4th hour of working with it, I finally got it broke loose with a steel beam, strap, and a floor jack. After all of that, the tank doesn’t need to be pumped. The inlet line has somehow settled down below the inlet to the tank. Since $h*t doesn’t flow up hill, I’ll be digging that up tomorrow and replacing it. Basically the only thing that I accomplished today was to verify that the tenants using the tank eat a good amount of corn.
My day is a tiny bit worse just from reading that.... :pms2:

Good evening all,
It has been a whirlwind the past week. 12 to 14 hour days and it looks like it will continue until the end of the month. Our convention is April 26th thru April 30th. It will be worth all the work once it‘s over. We are up to 3700 entries from all over the world. Our final cutoff date is the 22nd so we expect to continue to receive entries each day.

The wife and I were getting pretty overwhelmed today so she went to the Casino and I Was able to get the boat out for a couple of hours this afternoon and fill the live well with some white bass. Had a couple of fatties just under 3 lbs and was able to keep 14 good size ones. Even caught two at one time on a umbrella rig. It’s alway a good day when you can add some fresh fish to the freezer.

Thanks, it was great day for fishing.
That it was, but unfortunately had to come to Tulsa today with the wife to take her 89 year old Mother to the Cancer Center on 51st where she is going to start treatment. The Dr's are pretty optimistic for a good result.
While they were inside, I got to make a run to Bass Pro to pick up some fly-tying supplies.
Met a guy there in the fly section whose name is David. He is in his 80's. BP hires him to sit back in that section and tie some flies while helping the customers find what they are looking for three days a week. We talked for an hour about fly's, and his history with fly fishing.
He makes bamboo fly rods by hand. No machine work, all hand work.
6 perfectly hand planed 60 degree triangles from Tonkin bamboo that only comes from one region in the world is used, then glued together to make the rod. He said he has over 60 hours in each rod of handwork. The guides are made of the same material jewels in watches are made from. He hand turns the handles, and hand paints the grip and the section where the reel mounts with absolutely beautiful painted trout.
He teaches classes about fly tying and has published a couple of books. He Apple airdropped a couple of chapters of several to my phone for me to tie.
Then he got into his personal collection and gave me about thirty flies, telling me which river system they worked best on.
Got invited back the next time we are in BA to bring the vise and supplies to sit and tie with him.
I'm looking forward to learning from a master in his craft.

Wow, how cool was that. I bet you were in heaven talking and learning some from him. Unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to fly fish. Have always wanted to learn but it just never happened.
I grew up bass fishing. My best friend and I were going to be professional bass fishermen. We fished on some of the top circuits back in the 80‘s but could never get sponsored. We found out fairly quick that you have to have sponsors to do for a living. LOL! So we just stayed with our jobs and fished the local tournaments and just had fun.
You will have to let us know when you make it back to Bass Pro in Broken Arrow to meet with your new friend. Would love to see some pics of you guys tying some flys.

Prayers for your wife’s mother.
