On the 'other' route, I've done the 81 miles of nothing between Clayton and Springer in 52 minutes.

:ooh2:
I was on that road once coming back from an elk hunt with an animal in the back of the truck with the cruise set on 90. Saw a semi coming from a long way off, but didn't see the NM Deputy coming right behind him that got me on instant radar.
Did the license, blah, blah, and he went back to his vehicle.
About 10 minutes later he came back, handed me my license, said he knew it was tough to follow the 60 mph speed limit on that stretch of road, but asked me to slow down and gave a verbal warning.
As soon as he went the other way, the cruise went back up to 90. I drove that stretch for about 11 years on elk hunts as well as RV'ing through there. The Deputy was the first LEO encountered.

A scene of Lake Powell near Page, AZ. The lake's levels have taken a hit since this was taken, as this was taken in 2017.

We boated that lake in 2019. The level was probably 60' low. The boat ramp was 1/4 mile long because it was so low.
According to google, the lake in 2019 was at 3568'.
Today, it's at 3554.5.
It's an amazing lake of nothing but orange rocks. We had to manually put the boat through canyon walls that were just wide enough to get us through, that then opened up into miles of open water.
Visited a site that is about a 1/2 mile walk one way to see some artifacts and petrographs and and arch.
What's really cool is that they have floating bathrooms all over the lake that are flush toilets.
A boat with a tank comes by and sucks the waste from the restrooms on occasion.

Did they offer the ghost tour?
That hotel and another in Eagles Nest NM have a storied history.
Didn't inquire about lodging or anything, we were just taking a lunch break from the Whittington Center. I think it would be cool to stay there though.

My wife and I celebrated 35 years of mostly wedded bliss yesterday, and our tradition for most of those years has been eating a steak at Outback. Even though our steer beef is better than anything you can buy around here, my wife still sometimes likes to go out for the ambiance, but all she wanted last night was me to cook filets on the grill. We still kind of like each other, so I guess we’re going to stay together and try to make it to number 36 next year. :anyone:
