I think it's more of a fight for true equality and critical thinking skills than it is pushing our beliefs onto others. Fighting to allow atheists to hold political office is not pushing beliefs onto anyone. Fighting to allow lawful marriage between any two consenting adults is not pushing beliefs onto anyone. Fighting to take Christian prayer out of public schools attended by more than just Christian children is not pushing beliefs onto anyone. For every atheist billboard, there are thousands of Christian billboards and crosses clouding the horizon. Letting others of a minority known that they are not alone is not pushing our beliefs onto others. In fact, for many of us, if religion would keep out of the lawbooks in which we have to abide by and stay within the walls of church and private homes of families and in the hearts, minds and souls of the individuals that choose to believe, then you'd hardly hear a peep out of us.

Pushing gay marriage is an issue of equal rights and to deny these rights in the name of religion and defense of marriage sanctity is disgusting and sadly amusing considering there are no protests outside of divorce courts.

Pushing an equal but differently named union would be equal rights but that option keeps getting turned down by the gay marriage supporters. It would be the simplest and the most common sense way to handle the whole issue and a compromise that everyone would dislike equally but it would work.

As for protest, did you notice what was going on in France about a week ago.

If you believed in equality then you would be defending my right to tell you about God as much as you are defending your right to tell me there isn't one. If I can talk to my friends about the local bar and invite them, tell them about a local restaurant and invite them, even tell them about the local house of ill repute and invite them, why can't I tell them about the local church and invite them? That IS being biased against religion and IS unconstitutional.

On a personal level, nobody is stopping this from happening. In this case, though, the military is a business and this is company policy and needs to be looked at as such.

Sorry I meant to say "some atheists" and I do agree, but I also know not all religious people try to push their beliefs.

True that. My old lady keeps her views to herself, I do the same. I enjoy religion, even a weekly church goer myself. the message of being the best person you can is something every human should hear and practice... Some take a religious track, others don't.

Bingo. Thats my house. Besides a super busy career as a corporate officer my wife is also a board member, Sunday school teacher, etc at her local Methodist church and is sometimes gone 3,4 nights a week doing church stuff, meetings, youth, choir, etc.
And then theres me, former Catholic school boy turned Buddhism and Zen fan with Agnostic leanings, heavily pierced and tattooed, and a heavy metal musician and tattoo shop co-owner. I might as well be the Antichrist in the nice residential area where I live out in Wagoner county compared to what all my neighbors look like. But looks can be decieving because Im actually one helluva nice guy when you get past my appearance, or if Im wearing long sleeve shirts and pants, and get to know the real me.

In 10 years of marriage religion has not been an issue in our house especially with our mixed up family of her and her good little Christian kids and me and my bunch of weird azz Addams family looking kids who have mostly been raised by their weird azz Witch mothers. But I do go to church sometimes, just only when I want to go- not when someone is telling me I have to go, that is different. I would say Fck off to em if they tried to make me, thats when the fight would be on. But I will go to Mass with my mother once in a blue moon because it really means alot to her that I dont die and go to hell. And thats mostly because of the stuff she thinks that I have done, did, or do. Plus, I am not getting cut of an inheritance because of my crazy religious views, beliefs, whatever.

They were mostly sickbay commandos who had laminated light duty chits. Made sure everyone saw them saying the blessin in the chow hall, but in the field they didn't do it.

I call BS. I served and NEVER felt pressure to attend services. NEVER.

I've seen it. I actually reviewed an investigation which concluded that an O-6 did it to his troops, and actually punished them for not attending. That O-6's career was over.

It's more common than you think!
