.... that's actually a church.

Some vigilant citizens in Phoenix, Arizona are up in arms over a domed church that they wrongly believe to be a mosque. The large building, still under construction along a busy interstate, is actually a nondenominational church. The backlash has been severe enough that the church's leaders have hung a giant banner over the dome: "IF YOU THINK DIFFERENT YOU ARE WRONG -- WE ARE BUILDING A CHRISTIAN HOUSE OF WORSHIP." The incident suggests that the widespread backlash against Muslim-American centers, which began this summer in reaction to the planned Cordoba House in New York, may still not have fully receded.
Phoenix's CBS affiliate KPHO reports, "People behind a new church in Phoenix are trying to stay ahead of any potential controversy or hate that accompanied the announcement

You can leave America and go be a slave in some country were they want you...

We don't want them here or anywhere close and we wont be intimidated by those kind of people WE ARE A CHRISTAN NATION!!!

Couldn't disagree more. We are supposed to be a nation of free people with the right to worship, or not, as we believe. Isn't that whats supposed to be great about this country?

One of the reasons the pilgrims settled this land and declared independence from Great Britain was for the freedom to practice religion. While I agree that we should be tolerant of all nationalities and religion(s)/beliefs, I don't believe any good can possibly come out of a mosque being built where it's clearly not wanted.

Regardless of what others believe, Islam is not a religion of peace. I will not treat them differently, but I'll watch them closely from the corner of my eye. Since 9/11, there are many, many people who feel the same way.

As for me, I learned all I need to know about Islam on September 11, 2001.

While that may be true, not all Americans identify with the Christian beliefs and principles. That's what makes America the greatest nation under God. Everyone is free to choose whether they believe or disbelieve without fear of being killed if they don't conform.

Freedom to choose. If you take that away, you've taken away all America was founded upon.
