Hey Pipe Smokers,

1st. How many of you all smoke a churchwarden? If so, what brand and length?

2nd. What brand do you smoke in your churchwarden?

3rd. Wife keeps asking what I want for Christmas...really nothing...but she won't accept that. I do have a few pipes that if I have the time I will use them. Most are a poker or barrel style, but I love the way a churchwarden looks and I did have one. Very smooth and cool smoke with the long stem.

I was feeding cattle and laid it down on the bumper of my truck, forgot it, and drove off...never did find it. It was a nice Peterson Churchwarden.

***Has anyone owned or currently own a German Vauen Churchwarden?***

Yes it was Vauen that was licensed to do the Lord of the Rings pipes for the movies and now They stopped because Warner Brothers/New Line Cinema had them to in 2011-2012.

Now they make "The Shire" style, a copy of TLOR and Hobbit pipes. I'm not into The Lord of The Rings or The Hobbit movies, but I do like these pipes!!

They're not an all wood stem(acrylic tip is a must) and they're made by a quality company...Vauen

I have an old Peterson 303(I have had it for about 16 years IIRC):

Unfortunately I haven't smoked out of it in a while(at least since I moved back to OK). I need to get a new stem for it, but haven't had luck searching online. There are a couple of tobacco shops down the road, I just need to go visit them and pick up some tobacco and hopefully a new stem.

cznick...

The stem detaches fron the bowl. With the stem removed, a person uses the longer pipe cleaners. Most to all of the Vauen made pipes you can use a filter-charcoal, balsam, and others. This will also.help capture moisture..or at least reduce it. In the bowl, with a pipe tool cleaner. I have seen filter material you can place in the bowl before you put in the tobacco...yes, they're flame resistant.

The other pipes I have are "regular" length.

Cohib.....I figured the stem detatches, but I wondered if you had extra long pipe cleaners. Didn't know they had material for the bowl. I have used filters ,but they didn't last long before they were clogged.

I have a Dunhill, and usually keep a Corncob in my bag as well. I usually buy the store brand, wherever I'm at, tending towards flavored Cavendish. Drew's has a blend they call wild cat, that is the droppings from around there scale. It's cheap, and I buy it for grilling with.
