The CZ Alpha 600 might be a viable option. Has the detachable mag, threaded, hammer forged barrel, adjustable trigger. They currently offer a rebate too.

Looking to get a new bolt gun for varmint and a long range trainer for my son(10). We already shoot .22lr out to 100m and wanted to go out a bit farther. My gun range goes out to 600m and figured a 223/5.56 would be a good option.
.22LR will get you to 600m but it won't have much energy at that range and it's expensive to put together the rifle system and buy the high quality ammo to do so. I'm about an 80% hit guy at 650 yards (24" square steel) but it wasn't cheap to get (or stay) there.

The Remy 700 clones (like the Bergara B-14 series) have a ton of after market options and you can fall down that rabbit hole pretty quickly also.

I bought a left handed .223 Ruger Gunsite Scout back in September off of Gunbroker as a companion to my LH .308 Gunsite Scout. It's a neat rifle, built like a tank, but may end up as a safe queen because my preference is for shooting ELR and a little BR with my .22LR's.

There is a Ruger Scout (RH 5.56mm) on Gunbroker right now for $600-ish and it already has the XS rail so you can run a scope in the traditional or forward position.

Please keep us informed as you go through the process, curious minds ...

It’s on page 2 but I ended up with a Ruger American Ranch in 5.56. Put a Leupold mark 4 and a Harris bipod on it. Already ringing steel at 500m with cheap m193 and m855.
