My son is teacher here in state and I have found a company that carries plate carrier that is also a computer bag I was looking to buy and wanted level 4 plates but was told that it was illegal that level 3 highest civilians can own. Seems that with use of rifles in shootings why get lower level I don't know anyone know what's legal. Also found backpack .

The only mentions of armor in Title 21 ("Crimes and Punishment") are in reference to wearing it while committing or attempting to commit a felony, and the definition. Use the "Search" link and it'll look through the entire title for you.

Interestingly, given the definition, I'm not even sure plate is legally considered armor. 21 O.S. 1289.19 (2): "Body armor" means a vest or shirt of ten (10) plies or more of bullet resistant material as defined by the Office of Development, Testing and Dissemination, a division of the United States Department of Justice.

Are plates constructed of "plies," or does that only refer to soft armor? And a "plate" wouldn't be a vest or shirt, it would be an insert into a plate carrier (which might also have soft armor in it, but doesn't have to). The last amendment to the statute was 1992, so I don't think plate was really on the scene yet.

I would agree, that a plate is not "Body Armor" in Oklahoma. I would also agree that you can wear body armor as long as you are not committing a felony.
