Play guitar and sing?

Any of you guys play the guitar and sing? I wanna take some lessons or just watch someone play and hangout and learn some things. It would be great if I could find someone around my age. (32). I'm in OKC. I'd like to learn the acoustic guitar.

I've played since I was 12 (17 years)
For the life of me, I've never been able to sing while playing. Once my mouth starts moving my hands start to slow down. I've tried simple repeating rhythms and still find a way to mess up lol
Any advice I can give on it would be, keep it simple at first. I started with the blues, then classic rock and progressed up to more hard rock/metal.

I like a little of everything. I listen to a lot of folk these days though. Some bluegrass. I've always liked this guys music.

Every Thursday at the Old School Business Center in Moore they have a country jam session from 5 to 9. I'm sure somebody could teach you the ropes.

I started in my teens, i can strum pretty good, pick a little but cannot sing. Im pretty monotone. But I dont care. To me its fun to play a song.

Buy a good acoustic, a couple of song books and dive in.

^+1000 on this. I've played & sung at church, which was a lot of fun. We're a little country with a little bit of bluegrass thrown in for good measure. I'm not a virtuoso by any means, but it sure is fun! Dive in!

Oklahoma City Traditional Music Assoc. has a monthly meeting where they break into groups and teach, followed by an open mic with indiscriminate jamming going on. Look them up and hit a few meetings, you will find it a good deal.

I sing every Sunday in the praise band, and play the guitar at home. I bought an Alvarez acoustic about 4 years ago to teach myself to play and have since bought five electrics.
