I read it once and havent been able to find it again...Is it stil in state law that a city cop must be certified with a rifle prior to carry on duty?? and if so can anyone tell me where its at in the state statutes!
There is no state law regarding rifle qualification. This is a department policy issue.

I don't know about it being codified in state law, it isn't in SC. However from a liability standpoint it would be a very bad idea to carry a patrol rifle without having some sort of documented training, both the department and you would be exposed to significant liability, more the department, but you as well.
