Preserving Hides?

Is there anyone located near texoma that still preserves animal hides with the fur on still? I’m wanting to learn the process, and thought maybe someone might do it still on here. Thanks!

Old school was salt and 20 mule team borax. Scrape the fat off and salt it to dry it out.

I guess you would wipe the old salt and borax off and then add more ever so often?
