Racial profiling on 4473's by Obama Administration

I always wondered why that question popped up on the 4473's.

The Washington Times reports that according to legal experts, requiring gun buyers to identify their race and ethnicity "is not required by federal law and provides little law enforcement value." Furthermore, gun industry officials worry about whether asking for the extra information creates "the risk of privacy intrusions and racial profiling."

Well, Mom told me that her parents were each 1/4 Indian. That would make me mixed race. I have only known one white man with kinkier black hair than my Dad's was. What do any of us really know about our race?

My wife is Indian but her and I know that I act Indian as much as she does. I mean, I have been to Indian funerals where I brought the smoked kidneys. Yes, I eat them too.

Also, I was born here so that means I am a native american. It isn't politically correct but it is technically correct.

To buy a gun you are required to answer the questions truthfully. It is wrong to ask that on the 4473 but I will do it when I need to.

Listing your race is new??? Hasn't there been a box on the 4473 to list your race for a long time? It seems to me that there has always been one and not just recently.

What's the big deal here? Why the sudden uproar?

Maybe I'm not quite understanding what you folks are saying, so please help me out here.
