Recommend me a camera

I am looking for a compact camera with a large LCD screen and a decent zoom I am looking to spend about $250. Why do you all suggest?

You cant go wrong with just about any Canon Point and shoot camera especially for the price. Id look at the ELPH 100 HS. 12 MP is more then enough, A 3" screen, long battery life and shoots HD video for about 180 bucks

Add a form fitted Clam shell case and your ready to go ( slides in and out of a pocket easily).

just remember that optical zoom is more important than digital zoom and high quality lenses make a big difference. LEICA and carl zeiss are great. but like the other guy said, canon makes a great product. but be careful. all manufacturers have their flag ships and the crappy 60 dollar ones so choose wisely! the Panasonic Lumix are generally pretty nice but i think if i remember right usually don't have image stabilization.

definitely check out the Panasonic Lumix cameras. Features include Leica lenses, 12X optical zoom, and HD video.

Check out this nikon at bestbuy. It has a large 3" screen and a 21x optical zoom which is very decent zoom. $253 I think on sale. I picked up a canon with a 35x optical zoom and wow I can read license plates at 3-4 blocks away all day long. It was a bit pricer $399, but I need it for work.

Actually, they do. I have a DMC-ZS7 with O.I.S.
