A good reloading manual will give you a pretty good basic understanding. I think my Lee manual has about 50-100 pages that describes what, why, where and how things work. If you read that literature it'll make a lot more sense when you get to hands on. I think Lees manual can be had for $20-$30.
+1. I started 20 years ago with the basic Lee Anniversary Kit. The "Modern Reloading" book that came with it gave me a good foundation, and got me safely under way. I've come a long way since, but a good manual will get you started.

It can be hard to listen to at times but there is good information sprinkled in there and lots of discussion on the reasons for doing certain things.

@cdschoonie Do you have some presses already or looking to get into it? I will probably end out over your way at some point to see the lights with the wife. I would have no problem sitting down for an hour or two and helping you figure a few things out and get started.
I have to say that a book is your best friend. It will give a lot of the information you need for setup and such as well as load data which is critical information. After that it's just little things here and there to make it all work. I run a single stage myself and sitting down to just process things is calming. I often sit down to deprime and size a few thousand cases at a time. Run them through the tumbler for a few hours or overnight and then the next day see what needs to be trimmed and swage the primer pocket/trim them. It may take a few days overall to load everything up a few hours at a time but I can keep tighter tolerances and consistency which was nice for me.

I do, I have a lee single and a progressive. No does yet. First I will be slowly getting the equipment needed, tumbler, dies, etc. I don’t have anything set up to be taught, but if you are in town, we could have dinner and talk a little maybe!
