So... pedophiles are sexual deviants with a birth defect (obviously, since we keep trying to cure 'em), but gays/lesbians/trans are "born that way" and it's ok.

If the latter is true... then aren't pedophiles also "born that way?"

Ya can't have it both ways. It's either a lifestyle choice or a birth defect, and the verdict should apply equally across the board.

Just my 2¢ ... :drunk2:

Not sure where this 'either/or' is coming from. Both can be born that way, but that doesn't change that 8 year olds can't give consent, which is why it wouldn't 'apply equally across the board'.

and your premise relies on a the stipulation that being gay is a kind of deviancy or birth defect.

But again, it's shocking how few people here seem to understand the concept of consent.

Maybe you just don't "get it?"

Sorry Terry, but I have to agree with their assertion. Making comparisons of homosexuality or transexuality to pedophilia or bestiality is weak at best. While you, me, and other Christians may not agree with the lifestyle of a gay, lesbian, or trans person, there is ultimately no non-consenting victim as there would be in cases or pedophilia or bestiality. IMO, comparing an adult who is in a same sex relationship with another adult to someone who rapes children is utterly disgusting.

As consenting adults, they have the right to engage in whatever legal sexual relationships that they see fit, undergo hormone replacement therapy, surgically alter their genitals, etc. In the same respect, we have the right to not purchase goods or services from a business that supports such lifestyles.

How condescending of you. I'm pretty sure everyone here does understand.

I didn't mention consent, but you seem to be stuck on that point. So tell us again about understanding concepts...
:drunk2:

sure, it's one difference for why things like beastiality and pedophilia are very different than things like homosexuality (regardless of 'born that way' or otherwise). But if people would stop saying that homosexuality leads to the other then maybe it'd be easier to see that they understand why consent matters. I wasn't trying to condescend. just pointing out that it seems like it's being overlooked as a distinguishing factor.

And i brought up consent again since you responded directly to a comment regarding it. I apologize if your response wasn't an attempt to rebut the quoted material and i misunderstood.

Non-truth : The bible says you can't judge me, that means "it is all good".

Truth : It is most certainly not all good. The bible is not telling one to not judge because the person does not deserve judgement, it is warning one against judging others because our sinful nature is so bent on judging others for exactly the things we ourselves do hypocritically! You see it all the time. I want to repeat that it does not mean the person is not guilty, or that there is not a right and wrong. Also, teaching what is right and wrong is not judging. Despite that we might or might not be judged by humans which is essentially trivial and may hurt our feelings, we will be judged by God. No matter who we are, with a massive sin list in our life, or one that is much smaller compared to others, we will fail His standard. We will need Jesus to intercede for us and cover us with His righteousness.

Non-truth : We can't help it and we're not responsible for it. We were born this way.

Truth : As is usual, truth is mixed with non-truth to deceive. The truth is that we were born this way, with a sin nature and desire to do what is wrong. The non-truth is that we can't help it, we're not responsible for it, and there is no way out. If God is not going to accept "I was born this way as an excuse", that should be all that is necessary to expose this lie. I also find an irony in this defense because if the person doing wrong really thought they were doing right, they wouldn't claim it! Claiming it is in itself acknowledging that they know it is wrong!
