It is Old news, but it would be interesting to find out what really happened to the Guns people were stupid enough to sell.

The clause we will not destroy weapons of historic value. That could mean any gun.

My Python is a 2020 version and it has historic value, about every gun out there comes from a historic background. Even a Glock could be historic.

But hey you can always trust large city government entity to do the right thing.

Gun Buyback Brilliant idea, if you are a crooked corrupt entity.

I have a friend who goes to gun buy backs all the time, he scours flea markets and buys old junk guns then shows up to get his $150 gift cards. Its his way of corrupting the system.

There is nothing wrong with this idea. Three hundred firearms.....in El Paso. Those were probably pieces from estates where the heirs had no interest in them, and no ideas on how to get rid of them. They ended up with something they could use. And does it really matter what was done with them? If they were destroyed, of if the officers involved took them for themselves has no impact on any of us. This was all voluntary. No one was forced to participate.

Just last night I told my wife we had to run out to the FFI and pick up a pistol that we had bought. And she said, did we need another pistol? So I explained to her that we just exchanged one asset for another, we had cash in our portfolio, and now we have a pistol in the portfolio. She gave me the look, not the mad look , it was that long thoughtful look of..... I can't remember why I married you. So, a gun buy back could be in our future.

Except the idea of a Gun buy back is to destroy the firearms.
I know about 50 percent of Americans think it is a good idea. An absolute right to think that way, Which may be Beside the point, except they use taxpayer money, under the pretense's that they will destroy the weapons they buy back, claiming they will never be used in a crime, making the public safe. I personally call Bullspit on the tactic, plus I wonder what really happened to the guns. It matters greatly what became of the guns, when a Public entity puts on an event using public tax money under false pretense. Gun buy backs in my opinion do absolutely nothing to prevent or solve violence or crime.
The best crime preventer is a legally armed Society, with Men and Women who uphold God Given Rights, of Self defense and protection of life, property and belongings. Especially when they live in a Lawful society which promotes these types of rights to the best of there abilities. You know American Constitutional type stuff.
Liberties and Freedom for individuals, not Deception and lies for Groups of People who are supposed to be Upholding our Rights and Freedoms. It does Matter.

Calm down. 300 of the tens of thousands in El Paso is nothing. (300 in OKC isn't worth getting upset about) Those folks were not pressured into giving the weapons. From what has been shown from other events like this, most of the items were rusted, broken, or otherwise unusable. If there were any that were worth anything, they likely got "reissued" to those involved in receiving them. No different than someone taking a piece to a gun show and taking a dirt bottom price. We try too hard to find things to complain about. Cities do worse things every day.
