Here is my story. I am in Colorado skiing and have been checking the ammo at wal-mart when I can. Tonight I go by the ammo counter just to see what they did not have. Low and behold the guy is stocking the shelves with 100rd packs of 9mm, 40 s&w, 45acp with a 3 box limit. I have a buddy with me and so I am thinking this is great and I am about to buy 600rds. Bad news is I flew and so can not take it on the plane. USPS will not ship ammo and the local ups store will not ship it either. Short version is that I just looked at the ammo and wished I would have driven instead of flown.

ummm, you can fly with ammo. checked in your luggage, in a locked container in original boxes. I bring it back from the east coast when I go out there. IIRC, about 15 pounds is the limit.

UPS Stores usually won't take it, but a UPS hub (should be one at the airport) will if it's properly labeled. If you check luggage, you can have up to 11 pounds of ammunition in "factory type containers" in checked. That works out to about 300 rounds of 9mm 115gr.
