Might check with Moboost on this board. He works on all 4 wheeled things "go fast". Don't know about gears, but he might do them.

You have to have a press though for the pinion bearing on a 8.8 to get the old one off and new one on. And if you get the shims wrong, off again and back on... But if you have a press youre good.

I used to do these regularly. The 9" is easier to set up than the 8.8", but both are fine if you have the tools for it. As others have stated, you'll definitely need a good press handy.

No their different. The 8.8 does not have the adjustable carrier bearings from side to side to set the backlash like a 9". You have to stack shims.

I know it's a drive for you but I had a guy in Duncan put my posi and gears in my 8.8 IRS for my 67 f100. He does a lot of them, race and street. If you want his number let me know
