For a gun that is just plain fun to shoot an SR 22 is hard to beat. Better make sure you have some ammo first though, be a bummer to have a new gun and nothing to shoot out of it. It's ok to dryfire though, so I guess you could pretend.

Yes, almost always true; but the SR22 Manual says its okay to dry fire it's as long as the magazine is inserted.

The mag must be inserted to engage the trigger. Like the P22's, the SR22 has a hammer block safety decocker. It blocks the hammer from striking the firing pin. It's ok to dry fire with the safety on.
