Mighty - I agree that Rush is full of himself and far more a conservative marketer/entertainer than a deep thinker but he also brings ideas, whatever the source, to the common man that those deep thinkers never would because they tend to be academically oriented and detached from the average Joe.

I very much admired the late William F. Buckley Jr., but I guarantee that many more people were more substantively affected by Ronald Reagan than WFB Jr. even though the latter was clearly a logical, coherent conservative intellectual while Reagan was a politician of much humbler intellectual aspirations.

"Prove it." "Prove it."

What's this, the Inquisition?

Whats the matter? Your a lawyer, and your position as one, should only reflect the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.

I'm tired of people posting posting crap that is inaccurate, and hoping that post will stand on truth, justice and the American way.

Put up the truth, or get the crap out.

Problem?

Mugsy, it just so happens that Buckley was a student of Willmoore Kendall's at Yale. More "standing on the shoulders of giants." And I get your point about appealing to the Average Joe. My point, while quite poorly made in my earlier post, is simply this: If anyone wants to champion conservatism, there are much brighter lights out there than Mr. Limbaugh, people who took the time to argue intelligently for the cause they championed, people who are academically respectable because they were academics themselves.

I have an "academic" for a relative that just happens to be a believer in 2A. He is the only one in his field, so he remains silent to retain his position.

Who are the "brighter Lights"?

We need names.

And they speak to other academics who represent 1/10th of 1% of the electorate so someone has to take those ideas - strip out the academic clap-trap and reduce them to easily understandable principles by which to govern and orient campaigns. Reagan did that masterfully, others not quite as well. But contrast that with Milton Friedman who while Nobel Prize winning economist was only really known by other economists
