Have been recovering from having a bone removed from my right bottom thumb joint because of arthritis. Can finally drive as of Tuesday. The recovery is slow as the operation took place 6 wks ago. Possibly mid February to be back to normal. Physical therapy has been a bitch because I couldn’t drive myself there.

Aggressive treatment of arthritis in one’s hand has taken on a new approach as the bone removed has been replaced with a” rope” with pins to replace it. Good thing I’m left handed. Just got to the point where I could not shake hands or even lift a glass.
Back to handguns. A 22mag and a 22 semi auto target are my next purchases. Got the funds but want to make a quality purchase decision.

What about the new Scheel's? I haven't been to that one, but the one in Omaha seemed to have decent prices on guns and a pretty good selection. Prices in other departments were more 😨, however.
Appears one has the threaded WMP SD in stock in the Tulsa area, but at least I will be able to handle one to check out the grip.

Well, I got to check out the Walther this last weekend at the gun show in Tulsa. I was also able to compare it to the M&P, the Kel-Tec and the Grendel. I've heard nothing but horror stories about the Grendel, but I have had no actual hands on experience.

I've had a couple Kel-Tecs and was not impressed by either. And talk about feeling like a child's toy... Not to mention that, like the Grendel, the design is dated. Time for an overhaul Kel-Tec.

The Walther seems like a viable option, but I did make some observations. Unlike the M&P, the Walther is a true blowback design. The slide is heavier and bulkier. I haven't actually fired one, but I can imagine that 40 gr. bullets are what it was designed to run. Lighter bullets are likely to cause issues. Again, just speculation based on the operating system. I also quickly noticed that the grip is significantly larger than all of the others. I have very large hands and had no problems reaching the trigger, but my friend that was with me has smaller hands and immediately commented on the difficulty of reaching the trigger. He tried the other pistols mentioned as well and prefers the M&P.

Someone please buy one of the Walthers and give us a range report! Inquiring minds are busy with important matters, but the rest of us want to know.
