Sorry to hijack thread but that makes me think of the old Johnny Horton song
"They crossed the Yukon River and found the Bonanza Gold
Below that old White Mountain just a little southeast of Nome."

I remember one of the last batches of Mosin 91/30 rifles to hit the gun shows for less than $100 had the markings filled in reddish-orange.
Somebody told me they supposedly came from Ukraine or something ???? Don't remember now.

My 94 Trapper Winchester from about 1989 or 90 has a gold trigger, never knew why, and I don't see them with Gold triggers unless they are special editions usually.
Always been curious why they put a gold trigger in it.

Edit: By the way that above Gold trigger and hammer look real nice. Would just need One Gold Capped tooth and One missing Tooth on the Top and man you could draw some looks at the Gun shop. Going in and laying it down asking How much is this worth, I need to move it today.

Back in the 1980's gun shops would use a gold colored crayon to fill in the letters to make their used revolvers appear to be better than those offered by the competition. I have a S&W Model 17-4. Mine does not have the gold filled letters. S&W didn't do that.
