Is it that she hasn't been invited or that she hasn't been scheduled to speak? Is it customary for the second banana on a failed ticket to address the convention?

The Romney campaign prides itself on a slavish adherence to script, and Palin cannot be trusted to avoid the impulse to go rogue. That is why, perhaps, the Romney campaign has not asked Palin to speak at the convention nor contacted her about even attending the party’s marquee event in Tampa.

Not only will Sarah Palin be absent, but so will any real Conservative political party.

This...

They are smart to keep her away from the convention...the left hates her so much that she motivates the opposition more than she does the Republican/Conservative base and the independents.

And this...

Whether or not you like Palin, whether or not she's invited, the GOP Convention has great potential to be one giant cluster flop this year.

And this...

I don't see anything keeping this convention from being a complete debacle.

You guys make it sound like the VP nominee makes or breaks a presidential bid. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You make a great point. But McCain wouldn't have got the votes he did had not been for Sarah. He was the definition of BOOOOOOOOOORING.....

And just what the hell does a VP do anyway? I know they vote in the Senate in case of a tie, but other than that, what else do they do except for praying that the big guy's heartbeat ceases?

Palin has [a lot] of rabbid supporters all across the country, even in the important swing states... wouldn't be a good idea to piss'em off for dissing her and then they stay home on election day.

Palin didn't hurt McCain.. McCain hurt himself when he suspended his campaign and went back to Washington to vote for the big stimulous plan. Showed he couldn't walk & chew bubble gum at the same time. Obama stayed on the Campaign trail. Without Palin, McCain would have been just another Ross Perot... only not as smart.
