SB206 is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate public safety committee on 2/7, 9:30am, room 534A at the capitol.

Text of Measure

This bill would clarify that an unconcealed handgun would have to be carried in a belt holster or case or scabbard designed for carrying firearms. It would add that someone carrying concealed could not be disarmed without there being criminal activity afoot. It would also remove the administrative fines and suspension of your license if you were carrying a firearm without your license, you could still face charges under 1272 however.

Flame on, fellas. But....

This sounds just neat and clean and peachy keen, but do we want the government dictating how we carry a weapon? "Mexican" carry is idiotic, but I should damn well be able to carry that way if I so choose. Why do people feel the need to legislate every, little detail of something?

I suppose I could roll up a paper towel and do so in a way that makes it a "case designed for carrying firearms". Just silly.

Let me know how that goes for you.

I don't agree with them saying how you can and can't carry but Mexican style is unsafe and what results in lots of ND's. As does any carry method of a handgun that doesn't cover the trigger guard.

The "how to carry" part of this bill is virtually identical to what we currently have. The biggest change is not disarming concealed carriers unless there is criminal activity.
