That is what I thought years ago about Harley Davidson motorcycles.
There were more than 10:1 of those for sale in the papers or bike trader than the Japan bikes.

I thought it was because people got those Harleys and wanted to be cool and get chicks and it did not work out in their favor.
I know of a couple people that bought them for that reason.

Now I see a lot of 7" or other short barrel AR barrels or complete "Pistols" for sale.

Could it be the same issue. You thought it would be cool and then found it was all hype and decided something more sensible fit the bill?

I held a buddies SBR and just can't get into it.
I do not think he likes it either as he never takes it out to play.

I never thought AR pistols were cool or practical. I don't understand the hype at all.
I think it was the ability to give the gov the middle finger and not go to jail for it. If we are being honest about it the whole AR/AK pistol thing is just a work around the whol SBR stamp BS to begin with in my opinion. Yeah they are fun and all, but since I'm no longer a door kicker it's kind of lost on me. Not to say that anyone that wants one shouldn't be able to get one, they should. Now days, I want as much power and accuracy from the round I am using at the moment I can get.

I totally agree with your assessment and also that if you want one you should be able to get one. If it fits someone's need or desire that's great. Just not my cup-o-tea.

Oh yeah, as for the Jap vs Harley deal.
I owned both types, when I was real young I preferred Japs, enduros and dirt bikes.
After youth was over went to Harleys. I much prefer Harley Full Dressers over Jap Road bikes.
After Cell Phones, I can no longer stand to get out on the Road unless I am in a Full size PU.
I used to prefer Semi Tractors, but my back can not stand the pressure any more due to being rear ended at a stop sign by a young girl on her cell phone.
Cell Phones have ruined the Riding and Driving experience for Me.

They have for many.

I witnessed an OHP motor officer riding alongside a car while on I-35 coming into OKC from Moore.

He looked at the driver and motioned for the driver to put down the cell phone then fell back in behind her.
