You can drive a nice expensive car and have a SNAP Card.

Resources,(cars etc.)are not counted.
A single person making $1,180 or less get can get up to $200 a month in fs.
A 2 person household making $1,594 or less get can get up to $367 fs.

Since 4/1/09 unemployed Adults, ages 18-50 have been exempt from work requirements to get fs, which helps explain
some of the major increase in the last few years. That provision expires 9/30/2012.

A elderly/disabled person living at home does not qualify for SoonerCare(medicaid)
if they have income over $739 a month.

If you're pregnant, a child, or an adult seeking "family planning services" the income level is
is up to $1,723 a month.

And if you're needing mental health or substance abuse services you can make $1,862 a month and qualify.

Poor men or women cannot get SoonerCare(medicaid) unless they're disabled, pregnant, or have children.

Hey, everyone wants free healthcare.....yet NOBODY want the consequences. In this case, the antivenom is extremely expensive due to the complexity of production (do you want to "milk" 1000 bark scorpions?) and the scarcity of use (ONLY for Arizona)....the drug is expensive. Yet if it wasn't given the ER doc, the hospital, everyone involved would be crucified.

It's America...we demand the best, and then ***** about its cost. Get ready folks.....you haven't seen anything yet.

I guess I am one who would ***** about the cost , Why is the same drug sold at the Pharmacies in Mexico for $100 dollars ? I know this is America and the Drug companies have to rip off the American people first , so we can give the drugs to the poor countries. The drug companies do what they want to , they own most of the doctors and our government lets them do what they want. It's the American way. If the lady has property and does NOT pay the bill, there will soon be attachments on her property and of course the debt collectors will come. It's a way now most hospitals work to get the money owed them. It's only the start of things to come.

Sorry to say you are a little incorrect...The drug companies far from own the docs. The drug reps have been cut out for the the most part for several years. They still provide a few samples here and there but not a lot else to the vast majority of docs. They figured out it is much cheaper to lobby the legislature. The majority of docs I know go with the cheapest effective medication. Most people can not afford trade name medications. Insurance companies and government agencies determine a lot of what prescription any physician can write for. Unfortunately, as noted earlier, you can give a choice of treatment options to the patient but at the moment of need who in there right mind (except maybe another doctor) is going to say no...might die or 20K bill. Really sad overall situation and nobody has the guts to fix it because it would make everyone mad and result in the shortened life span for many.

[An Arizona woman was socked with a $25,000 hospital bill for a trip to the emergency room after being stung by a scorpion.

She went to Chandler Regional Medical Center for treatment and was given two doses of the scorpion antivenom Anascorp. Three hours later she was discharged -- and a few weeks later a bill for $83,046 arrived in the mail. Edmonds' insurance company Humana paid $57,509, leaving her with the remaining tab of $25,537.

An American drug distributor charges hospitals $3,750 per dose. The Arizona hospital where Edmonds went charges $39,652.

The hospital, owned by Dignity Health, told the Republic Edmonds was charged the full billing price because she was out-of-network for her health insurance plan.]

Never seen that drug in Mexico for $100.00. Very expensive, even in Mexico or Canada etc. Production cost is outrageous as referenced above, milking the little suckers would suck!

Also, yes you can have both private insurance as well as Medicaid. Medicaid in Oklahoma must be the payor of last resort.
