He's not really dead, he faked the incident. It's a marketing ploy to sell Segway Chutes, accessories are where they make the big bucks - ask anyone that owns an AR.

Since it came back up, I wonder if this wasn't perhaps a suicide? The guy did recently give away 10mil lbs according to the 2nd article. That's a lot of money, even for a charity.

Judging by the picture of him in the 2nd article though, he needed to be walking anyway. . .

I'm going to clarify that this guy bought Segway in 2009 (I think that year is right). It was a lot more ironic to me when I thought he started the company/invented the Segway
