Senator Reid’s New Tax on Guns

There are reps in the US house who are now standing up and saying that this will automatically make this bill DOA in the house.

A part of me wonders if Reid is loading up this bill with garbage so that it gets filibustered. With the rating he got from the NRA (and yes they have been known to be wrong before but still) I'm thinking that he might want this thing to go down in flames because having it come to a vote in the senate will put several dem senators on record which would seriously hurt their reelection campaigns in 2014 and possibly 2016.

He could do that by introducing a rider that would require anyone receiving federal assistance outside of Social Security RETIREMENT BENEFITS to put in 40 hours of community service every week.
"On disability for back pain?"
"We're going to route phone calls to you from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Calls ignored in excess of 2% will result in a reduction of benefits."
The Democrats would vote that bill down in a flash.
