Did you guys hear about the Democrats plan to avoid sequester and lower the debt that got shot down in the Senate the other day? It would have raised taxes $55 billion and only increased spending $62 billion. Obama and the majority of Dems supported it and if not for 4 Dems up for reelection next year they would have passed it.

For those of you that do real math, it would have increased the debt $7 billion but by Dem math that lowers the debt.

The crazy part is Obama refusing to let them make the cuts where it will not hurt the voters in any way. He and his lackys want it to hurt so that people will not want more budget cuts. They could easily cut at least 10% of the federal budget just in government waste, probably closer to 25%.

An example,

The AG and the FBI director are required to fly on government aircraft for security reasons, even on personal trips. But the report noted that there are aircraft available for their use that are much cheaper to fly.

And on personal trips, the officials have to reimburse the feds only for the cost of a coach ticket. When Holder flew to New York in 2010, he repaid the feds $421 for a Gulfstream flight that cost taxpayers $15,000.

How about we just pay a couple of security types to fly coach with them!!!

I'm still convinced these furloughs and layoffs are fabricated by the Obama himself. They aren't cutting a damn thing except for the planned increase in spending from last year. They are still spending more than they did last year! So exactly why are these jobs in jeopardy? Have they really increased federal jobs by that much since last year? I don't think so.

73% of Jobs Created in Last Five Months Government Jobs

Even though deficits rule the day at every level of government, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the 847,000 new jobs created since June, a full 621,000 were government jobs. In November alone, 35,000 new government jobs were created.

Some of the cuts are real...not just decreases of increases from last year. Mostly because it is happening in the middle of the fiscal year.

Its the equivalent of your wife saying "you have $XXX dollars to spend next week"...so you plan on that $XXX. The week starts and you begin spending. Then on Wednesday, darling bride says "oh, did I say $XXX? You actually only have $XX...so you then have to roll back planned expenditures for the rest of the week, especially if you've already spent a good chunk of the originally promised amount.

In the case of the furloughs, man hours are part of the planned expenditures that have to be rolled back to make it through the rest of the fiscal year because large chunks have already been paid out in contracts and projects that can't be recouped.

It's still doable, but just poorly planned. That's why we need things like budgets and spending plans...but that concept seems to be lost on our leaders.
