Shotshell reloading

We have finally reached the point that if you have the components, it's cheaper to reload than buy.
I've been sitting on 100 pounds of shot with thousands of rounds of hulls and wads for years as it was cheaper to buy vs reload unless it was premium hunting rounds.
Have a great stock of factory stuff currently, but might get the RCBS Grand progressive back into the game just because I know I'll be "saving money" in a feel good thing.

I just paid 12.86 for a single box of 20ga high brass #6. and was glad to even find something besides a target load #8 in that ga. Looks to me that would be easy beat if you had some Herco or Dot and Shot.

I never loaded shotgun shells or felt the need to but now I am thinking about at least looking around for an old Lee Loader for shotshells. I even scrounged about a 100 20ga target hulls at our hillbilly range the other day. ya neeeeever know.

If you’d be interested in MEC 600 12 or 20 loader, I have extras of both.

I’ve got in the neighborhood of 3-400# of lead shot ranging from #4 to 9, and I don’t even know how many wads and hulls. On the other hand, my Dad was an avid bird hunter and left me a ridiculous amount of loaded ammo, so it will be a while before I “need” to get serious about shotshell loading.

Me too. A member on here found a huge stash of 16 ga dirt cheap and cut me a deal on 7 or 8 cases of it.

If one has the supplies, I've let folks come over and use my RCBS Grand progressive press to knock out a few hundred or so rounds while I kick back and observe.

I thought about that with the shot I have in the past but decided to leave it shot if SHTF. Bought it for $1 a pound many years ago when heavily into shotgun shooting.
Everything is in place to fire the system back up and pump out shotshells.
One can purchase reclaimed shot that is pretty reasonable. It's a mix of everything from #9 to 7 1/2. Great for close ranges out to 25 yards.

I acquired nearly all my shot and a bunch of my other supplies through estate sales purchases. I haven’t loaded for volume in many years, but I do some “specialty” loads for friends on occasion. I recently did some 20 ga #4 “squirrel” loads for a guy in my Sunday school class.
