I don't think I understand - this is a petition asking the White House (the President) to rule that a State Law is un-constitutional? The President can't do that - an aggrieved citizen with standing would have to sue in NY State Courts first and then bring it up to the Supreme Court eventually - unless (IIRC) he can make the case that it is an issue of original jurisdiction for the Supreme Court.

Agreed, but the sleeping giant needs to come out of its slumber and make itself known. Hence gun appreciation day, organizing at the Capitol, etc. If this petition reaches 25K signatures less than 24 hours after the bill is signed into law it makes a statement. Statements need to be made very loud & clear right now.
