We had a huge 22" swing American threading lathe at a company I worked for back in the day. Guy had an apron on which was not allowed around rotating machinery, but in the interest of keeping his clothes clean, that apron caught him up and spun him around the chuck and workpiece enough times that there was no blood left in him when someone finally got to the kill switch. It was a total mess. The carnage was complete.

I used to run a lathe at US Motors many years ago. I almost learned the hard way not to wrap emory cloth around your fingers to hold it when sanding with a belt of it. Dang near lost an arm. Scared me so bad I was able to yank the stuff in half just in time. Only close call I had running it for 3 years.
I checked my taps the biggest one I have is 9/16.
For what your wanting for just a plastic cutting board looks like you could drill a hole and heat a bolt up and screw it through. You could see if it would work on a piece of scrap. Might not even need the heat if you could get it started.

I got mine off Ebay, and it was cheap. There are all kind listed there now running from $5 to $29 for a pair-plug and bottoming.

I have bought a lot tooling from Ebay, often good and cheap. Only problem is sometime a $5 tap ships in $8.80 flat rate box.
