I just wanted one cased set that represented the main 4 cartridges and frame sizes,,,
They do draw some attention when I take them out dancing.

I think once upon a time I've owned almost every caliber, finish and frame size that Horace and Danial ever put their seal of approval on...

...except for that model 547 of yours Gabe.

Tell me more about that stunning, gorgeous creature! :naughty:

Oh that old thing...

It's just a 3" round butt S&W 547, 6-shot 9mm revolver that doesn't use moon-clips. They were made for a French police contract that was ultimately awarded to a French company. They made 10,270 3" round butt revolvers and 3,784 4" square butt revolvers between 1980 and 1985 and due to the moon-clip-less design and manufacturing, they are thought to be the most costly gun S&W has produced. They use a copper-beryllium "spring" to extract the case.

Mine was sold to Outdoor America when I was working there. Guy handed it to me so I could take it to the gunsmith to have it appraised and when I cleared it and looked at the model number I knew exactly what it was and that if we bought it then it would be mine. Gunsmith was a very by the book appraiser and the current gun bible (2013 or 2014) didn't reflect a good price. Didn't figure the guy would accept the paltry offer but was prepared to follow him to the parking lot and offer more. He asked for $25 more than we offered and when it was all said and done with, I walked out that day with it for less than $300 and a standing offer to buy from a regular customer.

First time at the range, 15yds, 12-shots per target:
1: DA, slow
2: DA, slow
3: SA, slow
4: SA, medium
5: SA, fast

Anybody got one of the scandium .357s to post? Obviously not as beautiful as the classics. For some reason I'm craving an overpriced hand smasher.
