I'm not sure I like this stock. I may put a Magpul that I have on it. I talked with Luke today at Arrowhead and he recommended a 65 grain load. I think I'm going to try that out and see where it gets me. The problem with these is there are no pressure signs like with a conventional center fire rifle. If I don't get to the point I'm happy with longer range performance, I'll drop back to a lighter bullet.

Your rifle sure looks good. Interested to see the progress.

Your bullet is seated against the lands correct, no sabot? That's what I do like about the Savage is when my sub bases and/or MMP sabots start to fail, I'm pushing the limits.

Correct. I'm shooting sabotless with fitted bullets.

So i fitted it in the Magpul stock and get a little creative with the FDE spray paint. It's a hunting gun, so I'm not concerned about the finish. I'll be adding a few more colors to it to finish breaking it up. Gonna have to order more bullets, I've only got 35 left. Man this hobby isn't cheap.

Got another box of bullets, so I'm covered for hunting season I think. Took it out this past weekend and tried 65 grains of IMR4198. Didn't chronograph these, but I'm currently sitting at a 3 inch difference between 100 and 200. It brought my 200 zero up around 12 to 14 inches. There was another gentleman with one of these at the range and he was shooting 71 grains of H4198 and the difference was almost another foot. Holy crap theses things get real flat with a good powder charge. The recoil difference was definitely noticeable between 60 and 65 grains, but not so much between 65 and 71. He's shot this for years and it was recommended to him by his builder, so I'm not afraid of over pressures. No pics of the targets, but they were clover leafs at 100 and 200. I think I'm where I want to be and will get back out to get some velocities to work up a range card. Then on to verification. This is a fun hobby to get into for sure.

Thanks for the update! I need to get mine out more than 2 weeks per year.
