Yea I have seen many people replace the drive tires on the self propelled mowers.
I was about to do that or cut some tread into them and then seen this hack.

I also read the reviews and a simple bike tire tread will also work. Yea that rubber no slip mat is $1.89 at harbor freight.

I was just given a Honda HRR216 mower that did not want to start and the tires are slicks.
Yea I got it running and adjusted the drive cable and it hauls booty but will not go up a slight hill on wet grass.
Just does a burnout.

It will be getting a retread job :)

My tire treads are on.
Grass is always wet to a point when i mow. Dew or rain.
I have hills I mow also so there is that.
I have some self propelled mowers but I removed all the propel junk and made them light so I could push them easier.
I have 2 Honda mowers with all the stuff to propel them and I am trying to keep them that way.

I added some E6000 along the edges of the installed tread on mine.
Keep debris from getting under the tread.

I LOVE E6000 I have fixed many things with it.
Shoes, plastics and even a 1" cut in a tire sidewall 235-75-15. Wore the tread off of it.
